Always on my Mind by Jill Shalvis Review: Jack is a firefighter with a mom battling breast cancer. His dad died years ago as a firefighter, and that devastated his mother. She fell apart and has never fully recovered. While Jack is a good-natured guy, he works hard — really hard, and never fully commits in relationships. He has been friends with Leah since school. Best friends at one time, and she still turns to him for help and advice.

A great easy read, loved the characters. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two was electric - loved it! Like Jill Shalvis"s books are always so satisfying. Like d dutcheja Jan 24, Wow!!!! I just finished this book and I"m breathless!!! I don"t know if I have the words to tell you how much I loved this story. Archer is a hero and protector bar none!!! He has spent the last eleven years watching over Elle and making sure she is safe. Elle was the girl that got to him, she had him doing things that would cost him so much but in the end she gave him everything!!!
Theirs isn"t an easy love story it took courage for both of them to let the other one close. They both had hearts that were surrounded by brick walls that had to be removed carefully, one brick at a time.

There"s Something about Stereotypes: According to the OED, a stereotype in our modern sense of the word was coined in by American journalist Walter Lippman, to refer to"a preconceived and oversimplified idea of the characteristics which typify a person, situation, etc. Also, a person who appears to conform closely to the idea of a type. What does stereotype look like from the opposite end—from the one being stereotyped?
Can stereotypes be claimed, transformed, empowered? Can they be used, manipulated, for positive effect?

Because Mark always plays to win. I wasn"t sure how the shorter format would work for her, but this was again a fun read for me. Rainey Saunders is a coordinator at a community centre in the midst of a community that started out poor and then was further devastated by wild fires with many of the families losing everything they own including their homes.
She does the best she can but she is always underfunded and there are never enough parent volunteers to help run the programs. Enter hot shot ice hockey coach and home town hero Mark Diego. As a result of a fracas involving some of his team he finds himself back in his home town supervising two young hotshots who need to spend some time volunteering in the community or face losing their spots in the team.
His brother is Rainey"s boss, and the community centre seems like as good a place as any to do their time! What neither Rainey or Mark is counting on is that the heat that has existed between them for years is still burning fiercely, but there is some baggage, particularly on Rainey"s behalf. As a young girl she had tried, spectacularly unsuccessfully as it turns out, to seduce Mark, and she hasn"t forgotten. Neither has he, but not for the reasons that Rainey thinks. Of course, the fact that Mark will be going back to his high flying life style at the end of the project also hasn"t escaped Rainey"s notice, and she knows that she needs to protect herself from falling for him all over again.
